Life is like a sandcastle something beautiful here for awhile & then gone, but the impression it makes on others can last forever.

Women in the Boat #2

Day one fishing in the river. Fishing in the river is a whole lot harder than fishing in a pond. The water steady moving and your line being pulled with the current. It took me a while to realized when the fish were actually biting. Day one my husband caught some, me no such luck. Day two bits, still no fish for me and at this point I didn't think river fishing was right for me. I had to stick it out longer, because I love to fish. Day 3 I get off work and we head to the river. Feeling a little discouraged, sitting in the boat it happens.....

The line is tight, oh my it's a big one. I'm reeling in and notice how the strong current makes pulling that fish in even better. It at the top of the water, what is it? It's big, it's a catfish, and dang it! it got off:( Yes, I was sad. Upset, but feeling better about at least having that pull and seeing it made me feel better.

After a while we change locations and there's rocks along the side of the water. I feel a hard jerk. This time a 22inch Striped Bass make his way into the boat. After looking my catch over we release him and I have river fishing fever. I already had fishing fever... to be continued

Good for you for persevering! I love to fish too but I usually fish off of a pier at the beach.

Ooh - I love to fish too. I don't get to do it too often. My husband loves to fish - he introduced me to fishing when we started dating. I actually caught the first fish in our first new boat right after we were married - a Sturgeon on the river in our town!! Can't wait to read more!

I had a scary experience fishing when I was little and I've just never cared much for it since, but I've got to give you kudos on the 22 inch striped bass. Good catch!

We go fishing A LOT! I can't count how many poles my husband has lost from walking off and leaving his pole leaning against a tree. And it's almost always a brand new pole!

Good for you! It's great that you enjoy fishing!
I'm the type that ends up hooking a fellow fisherperson! I always did like practicing casting, but my stepfather made sure there were no hooks on my line - just a small wooden weight, as I was a menace with anything sharp and pointy - I wasn't allowed to play darts either as a kid, after an unfortunate experience at a local amusement park. Luckily the guy I hit was very forgiving and it was only a flesh wound.
