MAY TO PLAY EVENT- entry chance too

Night Owl Mama & I have teamed up to bring our readers "May To Play." We are working with fantastic companies to help kick summer off with giveaways, safety tips, and family play & fun ideas. Some sponsors include Hasbro, Hearth Song, Guidecraft and me4kidz.

Hoping everyone will join us, grab our button and have fun!!! The button code is on the right hand side of my blog.

My son was creative the other day, he wanted to play hopscotch. He had the wash rags on the floor set up into a game of hopscotch.

I would love to hear ideas of games or fun activities. Please leave information on how to do it, so if some wants to try it. I'm going to pick for random org on this post's comments and one commenter will get 10 entries to be use for May to Play giveaways. Can be split or used on one giveaway:) Ends April 30

As a kid we always played "Hide The Thimble"-not sure kids know what a thimble is anymore, but when I watch my 3 yr. old neighbor girl every Friday we play it hiding an item--She loves the part when I tell her, "Your getting warm, warmer, hot, hotter ,hottest..." as she gets closer- (or cool, cold, etc, as she walks further away.)
She just giggles..:)

One of my favorite things to do with kids is make forts. I regularly babsit my two nephews who are 3 and 5. It was the middle of the winter though, but the kids were clearly bored so I was trying to think of something to occupy them - and thought of a fort. So we made a fort and they played in it for hours - that was probably a year ago but when I go over to watch them even now, one of the first things they say is "can we build a fort today?"

So simple and can keep them busy for hours!

When I was a college student and my boys were young they loved to play hide and seek. Out of sheer boredom one Summer afternoon and non-stop pestering from the boys who were bored, I decided to keep them busy for a while. I went to Walmart and bought a few trinkets and candies, placed them in a homeade treasure chest I made from an old wooden box I had been keeping and decided to create a new game to keep them busy so I could get some school work done.
I hid the items around the house and drew up a 'treasure map.'

I told the boys there was hidden treasue inside a treasure chest in our house and gave them the map to decipher. My boys were 6 & 8 at the time. It worked! The map held a few clues which kept them busily searching for the hidden treasure which made them happy while mom got her school work done!

Because of the map I drew, it took them over 2 hours to find it but they were sure happy to get their treasure! It also helped them work together as a team and they shared their bounty :)

Hope this helps out some with the ideas bit.

Cheers,
Sherrie

well, my son is a toddler so he has not really learned about making up games. He does love to play in a large box. I got him a bean bag chair and he loves the box more. He makes me get inside with him.. not much room, but fun.

We take all the old broken crayons with the wrappers taken off and heat them in muffin containers in the oven until they melt into solid pieces. You can even use character tins for fun shapes.
