Perhaps if there had been more science projects like the Groovy Lab in the Box, I would have enjoyed science in school. My boys were so eager to jump in and get to work. It's a moms dream come true project, your not searching for materials. Everything you need is in the box!! We were sent the Here Comes The Sun, GroovyLab in a Box.
The Lab Notebook has the project instructions, facts, brainstorming sections to write your hypothesis as my son says. Long ago my oldest learned, if you don't ask the question, you will never know the answer. He asks lots of questions and reads many non-fiction books about science and history.
The first project we did was the Conductivity Sensor, the kids are obsessed with batteries. Looking at the wires and buzzer with wonder in their eyes. Connecting the wires to the battery with foam squares, sticking them to the water. Adding salt proved to be the better factor with conducting electricity.
Making the Solar Balloon was one fun and easy project for the boys. Their balloon did rise some, not as much as thought. Talking it over on why it did not do as expected. They did not have it sealed tight enough where they taped the bags together.
Solutions: Included use more tape to seal it better or use one bag to begin with. Especially if they were on and deserted island with no tape and found a bag.

Up it rises!
Building a Solar Oven, I admit it. I cheated on this one. Instead of using our lab box to cut and tape the whole thing, I found another box close to the same size and raised the sizes. We then carried on from the regular instructions.
Melted and cooled down, mixed crayons to color with. Oh they loved this experiment. From a solid, to a liquid, and to a solid again. Explaining to them that it was like a little mini oven to bake with.
Groovy Lab in a Box - A Product of Academics in a Box Inc - Information
One of our core beliefs is that we want to bring this generation back to the NASA Apollo era when children wanted to be scientists and engineers and science was at the forefront of the media. Hence our "retro, 50’s" brand and logo design. We believe science should be more “Pop-Culture” in our society. When one understands science, one has a greater appreciation and understanding of the beauty, poetry, and wonder of the universe around them. We believe a strong STEM education is the future for our children to be competitive in the 21st century. Science and art go hand in hand and children are encouraged to draw, journal, and "think" about their engineering design challenges. “Science and Art were never meant to be separated, they must intermingle.” - Elaine (Co-Founder)Social Media
