Last Day of Chemo and a Scar

Yesterday was my mom's last day of chemo. She has made it through with only a couple of sick spells. Back 2 weeks ago when my son was in the hospital she had pneumonia and was sick then too. She said I could share her cancer scar so I'm adding to another page because it's the picture after surgery. Her cancer was around 8cm long and the surgery lasted around 8 hours. The upper part right lobe was removed.

Since this we are even more closer and try to spend every minute we can together. You know we are never promised tomorrow.

She asked me too warn people of smoking.

Children Book Suggestions

This is a favorite picture of mine, my mom reading to the boys.

We've been doing extra reading at home working on our Reading Counts list and just plain having a good time enjoying books. My 3 year is now interested in books where before he wouldn't sit still. My 5 year old always loved being read to and would hang to every word.

To tell the truth I was getting worried by my 3 year lack of reading interest, but relived to see him participating in story time more. Their favorite stories are Curious George stories, Clifford the Big Red Dog stories, and love Peter Pan.

What's a favorite story of your little one? I'm looking for suggestions when we go to check out books.

First Hospital Stay

What could be more exhausting than 3 days at a hospital with a 3 year old. Really he wasn't to ruff at the hospital my poor little baby slept and was really good. He was so excited to see the new LeapPad2, we purchased. He'd been hunting for the first LeapPad, they lost it the first week of school. Too bad his hand wrapped stopped him from using it more, but he hung tight to it.

He didn't have Strep Throat, he did have pus packs (Pharyngitis), high fever (104), ear infection, high white blood count, dehydration, and vomiting. This was our first hospital stay, with one of our children. We both missed home. I didn't miss all the laundry and dishes waiting for me when we got home thanks to my husband and oldest son.

We love how the the children interacted with the Touch Magic Rockin' Guitar and Learning Bus. So easy to use and educational. Curious little minds and itching little hands dove right in:) No need to explain to them they are professionals at play. Adult have to read the specifics, talk about it, and drag as my son says. 

I noticed that smaller children seemed to like the bus a little more and the older children tend to go for the guitars. Over all the weather was nice so we a picnic outside with snacks, trampoline, and musical instruments. We used the trampoline as a stage and each got up and put on their best performance. 

Favorite feature on each was the piano keys on the bus and song mode on the guitar. The many function, Leap Frog Touch Magic Rockin' Guitar entertains and amazes the little ones. It's big smiles all the way when they can rock out with some of their favorite tunes. The Rockin Guitar plays the Itsy-Bisty Spider, Pop Goes the Weasel, Rockin' Robin, and seven more children favorite songs by pressing the green music note next button. Strumming the string and they can add their own music in. Add in more great sound effects like the drum, switch between acoustic or electric guitar, children can play a solo , and then get an applause for their musical master piece. It has a should strap and adjust volume switch for low/high volume. The Rockin' Guitar takes 3 AAA batteries but, if you little stops playing it has a automatic shut off feature and saves your batteries. 

The Magic Touch Learning Bus has three modes, "Learn, Game, & Music." The Game mode helps explore letters, objects, and sound answering the question. So fun that each band member on the bus plays their on instrument and the kids can play along at the same time too. The piano keys was a favorite feature.

As you can see the bus features the alphabet across it and has a learn mode. While pressing the letter you hear it's sound, name, and sound effect for that letter. The learning bus is super fun way to get little familiar and practicing their abc's with out even realizing they are learning in the process. The Learning bus also has volume controls and automatic battery shut off feature. Leap Frog in in touch with play and create the most interactive fun toys for play and learning.
