Sore Hands

I sent my oldest son back to school today after getting the doctor and the school nurses approval. It been a rough week here with sick kids, and let me tell you adults can have it too. I got fever chills & throat blisters, no hand or feet blister. It knocked me down and my husband had to take over. The oldest got the sores on hands and feet worst than the little one. Both had them on their ears and in their throats. My 4 year had more fever than us. It's been a sick place around here with doctor visits and ER trip with Pharyngitis too.

That Hand Foot and Mouth disease is highly contagious. You can contact it long before symptoms appear, then the ugly symptoms rear their head and it's not pretty. Only thing I can suggest contestant hand washing and once you have it have fever meds. frequently.

Sending them back to school and afraid people would pick on his hands. Thank goodness, no one was ugly acting. 3 days after having and then 6 days pics. Kind of look like ant bites and they were sore he couldn't wear his button pants.

Child Illness Puss Filled Blisters & Fever - Hand, Foot, & Mouth

No I haven't been blogging lately, my son is sick. Two weeks ago they both had really sore throats and the baby had ear infection. They took their antibiotics and then Friday my oldest being having fever and they said his ear was now getting infection and gave his stronger antibiotics. He is doing better.

Saturday my 4yr. began to have fever 102. I gave him Motrin & took a shower and carried him straight to the ER. He is the kind of child if he gets a fever you run straight to a doc. cause you know it's going to be bad. 

He began vomiting, the fever dropped and then began rising up to 103.6. The doctor said he had Pharyngitis and they will run more tests. No strep, no flu, chest and stomach x-rays were good. White blood count high at 14,000. His heartbeat was extremely fast and they began fluids for dehydration. He was given anti nausea meds. His heartbeat got better with the more IV fluids and the lower fever. Then they released him at 4:30 am to my surprise.

All the next day fever and had him sipping drink all day. That night he went into an itching fit on his hand and feet. He had bumps popping up all on him. I take him to the doctor's office yesterday morning and find he has Hands, Foot, Mouth disease too. It will clear up on it's on, but my baby is not wanting to eat cause blisters in his mouth. he has blisters on his body mainly arms.

I didn't think this was very wide spread in US. It is I've heard or 3 other cases in our community before my son and the doctor said she has seen more cases. I also discovered more cases of it on google search. Watch out moms, I thought he might have had chickenpox. This is a real nasty contagious virus. He is doing better today and the fever is down.

Missing in action!! I've been on Jury Duty. Why do they make jury give their home address in front of the defendant? That totally shocked me. I guess your innocent until proved guilty, well then some are proved guilty... um something to think about. 

This was my first time ever being called and I was so confused and had no idea what to expect. Happy my aunt was called too, we got to spend breakfast & lunch together.

Basically I had to stand stating my name, address, job, husband name and job and if I had kids. It was a truly unique experience. Is that normal? I love giving my address to strangers, don't you?

When we had the chance to review a sample Book & DVD Room on the Broom. I was excited, my youngest son is fascinated over witches and scary things. 

Who knew a witch could be nice and friendly. This story shakes up all you thought you knew about witches. The story line in the book and show are the same, the boys saw the show first and then read the book. They liked both very much and I thought it was an adorable story.

Room on the Broom is from the same author who wrote The Gruffalo, Julia Donaldson. The same illustrator as well for The Gruffalo, Axel Scheffler. I think the two have created the perfect story for children yet again, and even better. Beautiful art & a fun story line to brighten little ones hearts.

We loved to see a story about making friends, family, and sharing. The cat learned that sharing and friendships are important. The witch is kind to her friends and her friends are always there for her even if a hungry dragon is trying to have her for dinner.

I've promised both boys, they could take the book & DVD to school to share with their class in October if it's ok with the teachers. I recommend this show & book, both are must have.

Beautiful CGI animation brings the book’s drawings to life under the direction of Max Lang.  Gillian Anderson (The X Files) provides the voice of the witch; while Timothy Spall of Harry Potter fame, lends his voice to the dragon. Simon Pegg (Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead) narrates the story which also features the recognizable voices of Martin Clunes, Rob Brydon and David Walliams portraying the helpful animals that comprise the witch’s family.  Room on the Broom is produced by Magic Light Pictures (the team behind award-winning animations The Gruffalo and The Gruffalo’s Child).

To make a witches hat, you will need:

•   Construction paper

•   Scissors

•   Pencil

•   Ruler

•   String

•   Glue

•   Compass

•   Stapler

•   Things to decorate your hat with: glitter, craft foam, felt sheet, etc.

Note: 

•      Kids 8 years and younger should use child-safe scissors.

•      Keep the stapler out of young children's reach.

To make a costume:

You can create the costume using a black top, skirt and tights, or even a black trash bag!  Cut out the head hole and arms, then try on the bag for size to see how much of the bag to cut.  Cut the bottom of the trash bag off in zig zags or v-shapes. The part of the bag that was cut off can be used for the belt, or use some rope.  Add black plastic over any pair of shoes!
